My Parents
I had/have a wonderful relationship with my parents. They have always been there to support me, no matter what I wanted to do. From a young age I remember wanting to have my own Childcare Program. I always wanted to teacher young children. My father told me that if I would get my education he would help me with the financial part of getting my program started. Things didn't work out for that but here I am at almost 40 and pursuing my M.S. My parents loved me unconditionally and would always support me in anything I decided to do. They were hard working and dedicated in everything they did and instilled these qualities in me.
My Grandmother
I wish I had a picture of this amazing woman. She took care of me while my parents worked. She encouraged me to try new things, whether it be food, riding my bicycle or any other task. I remember from a young age the love and encouragement this wonderful lady had for me. She always made me feel special by helping me complete new things and praising me for doing them. I remember when I started tyring to ride my bicycle and kept falling off. I would cry and said I can't do it, she wouldn't let me quit. She would say, "you can do this just keep trying and I love you." So I kept going until I was able to stay on and ride. I love and miss my grandmother so very much. She was such a major influence in my life.
My Babysitter
After we moved and didn't live near my grandmother anymore, I had to start going to a babysitter. Her name was Bertie and she was my second momma. She was a wonderful mother and caregiver. She kept me with my homework after school and encouraged me to do things on my own. She was always encouraging and honestly loved me. She too would say, "you can do it, don't let anyone tell you that you can't." This stuck with me because over the years and even today I have people say you you can't do that, all I had to do was remember Ms. Bertie and I would accomplish my tasks.
Mrs. Moretz--My fourth grade reading teacher
I remember Mrs. Moretz encouraging us to read. I was not reader, it was like I could read it but not remember what I read. She took the time to work with me and help me to be an avid reader that I am today. She was the first teacher that had us start working on journals. Each day we would have time to write something. Some days we had a topic and other days we just wrote what we wanted to. She really cared and took that extra time with all of us. She always said, "if you put your mind to it, you can do it." This is still with me today it has made me a better student and teacher. I try my best to be that teacher that takes that extra step with my students.
Each and everyone of these people influenced me to be the person that I am today. Without any of them I don't think I would be who I am. I love, cherish and thank them all.
