Part
1, Establishing Professional Contacts
I have been trying to establish my professional
contacts, with no responses. I have sent numerous e-mails some have come back
and others just no response, yet. I have sent to the CEFP-Australasia Region,
Childhood International, Head Start-Sharon Kirksey-Walcott, Step by Step
Program Haiti, UNICEF, and Center for Early Childhood Care and Development in
the Philippines as well as the ones that were returned.
I received an email from the ACEI, Sheri Levin, Member
Relations and Communications Manager; hopefully she is going to be able to put
someone in contact with me. Keeping my fingers crossed because I am so excited
about this assignment. http://www.acei.org/
I am hopeful that more will respond, but
until then I will research the Alternative assignment.

2, Expanding Resources
I have chosen from our resources to
research Child Care Aware of American formerly known as the NACCRRA. The web
address is http://www.naccrra.org/ I have
subscribed to the network and will receive the newsletters and any other
updates. I chose this resource because of the vast amount of information
including State Child Care Licensing, Cost of Child Care, Poverty, Quality
Matters, School Readiness and Parent Perspectives as a few. I am excited and
eager to dive in and learn more about this organization.
Hi Catherine
ReplyDeleteIt is unfortunate that you are having so much difficulty getting in touch with other early childhood practitioners, but it does sound like you have made a concerted effort. Your chosen resource also looks interesting. I thought it was innovative of them to offer online mini-seminars on topics like nutrition and getting children physically active during my quick peek at it. Keep us posted about it.

Catherine - Good Luck with your search. I too am waiting on responses. I hope it works out for both of us because this assignment sounds really cool.
ReplyDeleteI too am working to establish international connections without response. Hoping that Monday will prove to be the day I receive an email. Your topic choice for expanded resource sounds quite interesting, specifically the focus on parent perspective. As a Head Start teacher do you have a parents group? Maybe a family connections employee? I know that locally our Head Start is very focused on the family participation and input.
ReplyDeleteHeather, yes we have a parent group, we have parent meetings once a month at the center and during the first meeting the parents vote for officers to be on the Policy Council that meets once a month at our main office. Parents are involved in every aspect of the centers from who to hire to where to go on field trips. And we have an advocate that deals with the parents on working on goals they set for themselves and the family.
